Geography

Depending on the version of the story, Daphne is the nymph daughter of the god of River Ladon in Arcadia (A), the god of River Peneios in Thessalia (B) or mortal King Amyclas of Sparta (C).

The myth of the pursuit itself takes place in the Vale of Tempe (D), the lands surrounding Mt. Parnassus (E), or Laconia and/or its surrounding mountains (F).

The transfer from Arcadia to Thessalia may be the result of confusion or inspiration stemming from the existence of a Ladon stream in Arcadia (G) that flows into a Peloponnesian Peneios (H).
